At Osteopathics Radlett, Registered Osteopaths have been caring for people from surrounding areas for a variety of muscle and joint injuries, correcting posture, and treating work and sport related problems.

We liaise with local GPs and consultants to support our patients' care and in the last few years our team has expanded to include a physiotherapist widening the care opportunities the practice offers.

Catherine Hamilton-Plant and Clare Richmond opened the practice after qualifying together at the BSO in July 1983 and a couple of years later Barry Jacobs joined them.
They have been in continuous practice since then and both Clare and Catherine worked with the Osteopathic professional and registering bodies as council members.
Barry Jacobs has been involved in teaching at under and post graduate levels in hospitals and academic institutions around the UK.

We now have a team of five osteopaths and a physiotherapist, providing treatment sessions each weekday, Wednesday evening and Saturday morning. Our team of osteopaths includes Louise North who has recently finished an MSc in Paediatric Osteopathy and Neil Younger who is also a qualified naturopath and specialises in sports injuries and visceral osteopathy.

Our physiotherapist takes regular referrals from consultant specialists for post surgical rehabilitation. Libby Dorward, has specialist physiotherapy training in the field of neuro-physiotherapy, which offers particular care for patients with conditions such as MS, Stroke, Parkinson's Disease and Bells Palsy as well as head and spinal injuries or tumours.

We have a friendly team of administrative staff to welcome patients and answer any non-medical problems.

Between us, we have over 100 years experience of treating patients!

Osteopathy and physiotherapy work well as disciplines in partnership, complimenting each other to offer patients a comprehensive musculoskeletal approach to mechanical problems. Osteopathy focuses on the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of musculoskeletal disorders and effects of those conditions on patients' general health. Osteopaths are trained to examine areas of the body using a highly developed sense of palpation (touch) to identify problematic areas. A typical consultation would involve a full case history, examination and treatment if appropriate.

We strive to help patients manage the postural changes caused by pregnancy as well as the work demands of computer users and success on sports fields and courses! Babies with conditions such as colic and sleep problems may respond well to osteopathy.

The practice has strong links with practices in Harpenden and Hitchin, which have both been established for many years. Catherine took over Mark Flawn's long standing practice in Tennyson Road, Harpenden in 1993 and Clare established the Hitchin practice in Portmill Lane in 1996.

The majority of private medical insurance companies recognise osteopathic and physiotherapy treatments and many of our patients have their treatment costs met by them.
