Wentworth Leisure Centre

Hexham, Northumberland
Wentworth Leisure Centre
Wentworth Leisure Centre
Wentworth Leisure Centre is conveniently located in the centre of historic Hexham.

The centre boasts a brand new, multi-million pound swimming pool and fitness gym.

The 25 metre, 6 lane pool is ultra modern and stylish, with a moveable floor and viewing gallery.

A 15 metre studio pool, also with moveable floor complements the main pool, along with splash and fun areas.

The new state-of-the-art fitness gym is cool and spacious with a wide choice of facilities and a good range of accessible equipment.

Most of the cardiovascular equipment has built in entertainment provision.

A comprehensive range of fitness classes take place daily in the four modern fitness studios; from Boxercise and Pilates, to Tai Chi and Young @ Heart, there's something for everyone.

The large sports hall is available for football, volleyball, badminton, trampolining and more.

Wentworth Bowl is new for 2010, with coaching sessions for new starters, league play for more competitive bowlers and reserved lanes at different times of the day for over 50s, after school users and special events.

Use by people with disabilities has been a priority when looking at the layout of the café and access to the lanes.

Ball ramps will be available to aid play and specialist equipment for those people who have difficulty using the traditional finger holes to hold the bowling balls will also be provided.

To add even more variation to the sessions available, 'Glow Bowling' will also be a feature at Wentworth Bowl where by balls, pins, chairs etc will literally glow in the dark with the use of fluorescent lighting, with lanes edged with LED lights.

Outdoors is the international standard athletics field, home to Tynedale Harriers. Floodlighting and an undercover viewing area are also provided.

For the under 8's a visit to Jungle Jack's soft play is a must. Full of fun, safe play equipment and a separate toddler area, it's guaranteed to keep the little ones entertained whilst you enjoy a break.

Make sure you stop by at Cafe @ Leisure on your visit, which offers a tempting array of teas, coffees, homemade soup and fresh cakes and scones. Delicious hot meals and snacks are also available daily.

The centre has an Ofsted registered creche run by fully qualified staff. Children under five can be booked in for up to two hours while you enjoy a swim, fitness class, session in the gym or just a well earned coffee at leisure.
