What is Chiropractic?
Chiropractic is a primary health-care profession that specialises in the diagnosis, treatment and overall management of conditions that are due to problems with the joints, ligaments, tendons and nerves of the body, particularly those of the spine. Treatment consists of a wide range of manipulative techniques designed to improve the function of the joints, relieving pain and muscle spasm.
Muscles, joints and organs of the body are controlled by the brain via the nervous system, an information "superhighway".

Irritation of the nervous system leads to poor control of the muscles, joints and organs which in turn leads to ill-health, disease and pain.

Chiropractic identifies and corrects nervous system interference.

Thus Chiropractic's primary goal is not simply to alleviate the pain that is often experienced in and around the back, although that is often one of the beneficial side-effects of chiropractic care.

Instead chiropractors strive to ensure that the nervous system is able to accurately relay information back and forth between all parts of the body.

Studies show that the nervous, hormonal and immune systems are so interconnected that they are better thought of as one system. The central nervous component is the master controller. Chiropractors use their hands to manipulate the joints of your spinal column, cranium and limbs where indications are that the system is compromised. Usually, but not always, this is noted as an alteration in normal strength or movement.

Adjustments are carried out using several different techniques, which are delivered with the intention of restoring, maintaining and then optimising nervous system function so that you have the greatest opportunity to be at your best.

Because nerve irritation can result not only in poor performance but also pain and even disease, you may have symptoms such as:

Headache or migraine
Neck pain
Dizziness or tinnitus
Back pain
Chest or abdominal pain
Shoulder, arm, wrist and hand problems
Leg, knee, ankle and foot problems

Pain is a warning sign which should not be ignored; your chiropractor is trained to diagnose the cause. Chiropractors do not prescribe drugs or use surgical procedures.
