Ribblesdale Children's Centre exists to improve the lives of children and families by providing a variety of flexible services that meet community needs.

We aim to provide high quality care and education at the heart of the community, taking into account children's individual needs in respect of culture, language, ethnicity, religion and special educational needs.

Within Ribblesdale Children's Centre we provide the following:


Ribblesdale Nursery School

Ribblesdale Nursery School provides part-time places 5am or 5pm sessions of 2 1/2 hours each during term time (38 weeks per year). Teachers and well qualified teaching assistants plan a wide range of exciting learning opportunities for 3-4 year olds.

The nursery offers a broad and balanced curriculum, providing both structured activities and opportunities for spontaneous learning. A rich and stimulating environment is provided to ensure the development of the whole child socially, emotionally, intellectually and physically. Young children learn through play, therefore they need to explore the world around them and experience a wide variety of activities first-hand.

Cascades Childcare

Cascades Childcare is our new day-care provision which opened October 2006. We provide 6 places for 0-2 year olds, 8 places for 2-3 year olds and 16 places for 3-4 year olds. We are open 51 weeks a year, 5 days a week from 8.00am - 5.30 pm. Cascades is a modern purpose built facility with friendly, well trained staff working together with our well established nursery school. Our cook provides nutritious meals freshly cooked every day.

Raindrops Lunch and After School Club

The Raindrops Lunch and After School club allows parents to extend their 2 1/2 Nursery sessions by using our out of school "Raindrops" club. Lunch club runs from 11.30am - 12.45pm and after school club runs from 3.15 - 5.30pm. This facility provides a fun extension to the nursery session.

The number of children per carer varies depending on the age of the children. Ratios advised by Offsted are:
0-2 years 1:3 2-3 years 1;4 3-5 years 1:8 We always provide the minimum number os staff and wherever possible, more than the minimum.
